Resumo: Endurance running requires high biomechanical and physiological efficiency, historically focused on aerobic training volume. However, neglecting other physical capabilities may limit performance and increase the risk of injury, posing a problem for the development of long-distance athletes. The objective of this study was to analyze the influence of strength training on the performance of endurance runners. To this end, a bibliographic review was conducted on the PubMed, SciELO, and Google Scholar platforms, consulting both classical and contemporary literature on the subject. The results demonstrated that muscle strengthening, when well periodized, improves running economy and neuromuscular power, in addition to playing a significant role in injury prevention, without causing deleterious effects to aerobic conditioning. Therefore, it is concluded that the integration of strength training is an indispensable strategy for maximizing performance and ensuring the athletic longevity of the runner.detrimental effects to aerobic conditioning.     <summary type="text">Título: Efeitos da prática de atividades físicas na qualidade de vida de idosos: revisão da literatura
Resumo: The practice of physical activities is fundamental for the quality of life of the elderly, a theme addressed in this study that reviews the existing literature on the subject. The World Health Organization (WHO) defines older people as individuals aged 60 years or older in developing countries and 65 years or older in developed countries. Aging brings several physiological changes, such as decreased balance, flexibility, and muscle strength, which can compromise the autonomy and quality of life of the elderly. Quality of life is understood as personal satisfaction in different aspects of life, including health and well-being. The research sought to answer a central question: what are the effects of physical activity on the quality of life of the elderly? An integrative literature review was carried out, searching databases such as LILACS and SCIELO, using descriptors such as "elderly", "physical activity" and "quality of life". The bibliographic survey was carried out in September 2023 and September 2024 and the inclusion and exclusion criteria resulted in the selection of five relevant articles for the analysis. Finally, the study concludes that encouraging the practice of physical exercise is essential to promote a better quality of life in old age. Public policies should consider physical activity as a vital component for the health of the elderly, aiming to maximize the benefits already proven by research. The inclusion of physical activities in the routine of the elderly should be a central focus to ensure active and healthy aging. The discussions in the article emphasize that, in addition to the physical benefits, physical activity positively impacts the mental and social health of the elderly. Regular exercise is crucial to preserve functionality and independence, thus contributing to healthy aging. Continuous adherence to an active lifestyle is essential and should be accompanied by physical education professionals, who can guide and monitor the practice of appropriate activities.

    <summary type="text">Título: Exercício físico e o idoso potiguar
Resumo: The current Brazilian scenario and future perspectives point to an exponential growth in the number of elderly people, so there is a need to look at the care that must be taken in old age, through the transformations that occur in the body, such as decreased immunity, decrease in muscle mass, dependence, among others. Given these factors, practicing physical exercise on a daily basis brings several benefits to the elderly, making them more active and less prone to pathologies. The objective of this study was to carry out research to analyze the level of adherence, permanence and frequency of physical exercise practice by the elderly, the motivational factors, the main difficulties and main diseases reported. To this end, a cross-sectional descriptive research was carried out where a questionnaire was applied to elderly people living in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, with questions regarding the practice of physical exercise and other information. After analyzing the data, a low adherence to physical exercise was identified by the interviewees. The main motivational factors cited were health and physical fitness. Among the pathologies reported, hypertension stood out as the predominant disease among the participants. The main practices mentioned by interviewees were weight training and walking. Lack of disposition and pain in general were the most cited factors that hinder the practice. Therefore, the importance of knowledge of this profile by the physical education professional is highlighted in order to use strategies to reduce the factors that make it difficult to carry out activities and to value and explore their motivations.
