      <link>http://repositorio.unirn.edu.br/jspui/handle/123456789/1276</link>
      <description>Título: Terapia manual na disfunção cervical – estudo de caso
Resumo: Introduction: The spine disease is the most common among the adult population, with&#xD;
cervical spine dysfunction a common situation, and may be related to the individuals'&#xD;
work activity. Objective: To verify if the use of manual techniques has satisfactory&#xD;
results in the treatment of cervical dysfunction. Methods: The present study is a&#xD;
descriptive, case-study, two-phase study, pre-intervention and post-intervention, with&#xD;
a 37-year-old female patient with cervical pain, notary. It was evaluated before the&#xD;
intervention of the treatment, presented localized pain in the cervical region and the&#xD;
movement in flexion, and rotation to the left and inclination to the left. The intervention&#xD;
includes techniques of manual therapy and stretching seeking pain relief in order to&#xD;
verify if its application in patients with cervical dysfunction obtains satisfactory results.&#xD;
Results: After three treatment sessions, the patient presented an evident improvement&#xD;
in pain, posture and movement restriction. Conclusion: With the significant results,&#xD;
the importance of physical therapy through manual therapy for cervical dysfunction&#xD;
treatments is concluded.

      <link>http://repositorio.unirn.edu.br/jspui/handle/123456789/1275</link>
      <description>Título: Terapia manual na da dor lombar crônica: uma revisão de literatura
Resumo: Non-specific chronic low back pain affects about 60 to 80 percent of the world&#xD;
population causing a significant cost in the health system and work-related&#xD;
shortages. Physiotherapy works with several techniques to minimize the pain and&#xD;
disability caused by low back pain. Objectives: To verify the methods of manual&#xD;
therapy in chronic low back pain in order to better identify its efficacy in the treatment&#xD;
of pain low back pain. Methodology: A research was carried out in the PubMed,&#xD;
SciELO and MEDLINE databases with articles in English, Spanish and Portuguese&#xD;
being selected 72 articles for reading the summary according to the inclusion criteria&#xD;
being: randomized controlled, experimental, case studies, case control and&#xD;
publications in the period from 2010 to 2017. Results: 24 articles were selected to&#xD;
compose the work of which 3 correspond to the Maitland Method, 3 on McKenzie, 5&#xD;
Segmental Stabilization, 3 references talk about Osteopathy and Chiropractic, and 7&#xD;
discuss about therapeutic exercises. All are effective in the treatment of chronic low&#xD;
back pain, but they do not show superiority among themselves. Conclusion: The&#xD;
present study concludes that the most varied therapies exist for the treatment of&#xD;
chronic low back pain and that the results are positive for a certain period, but not&#xD;
definitive. The effectiveness of one method over another is still uncertain, many&#xD;
therapies are used together in many interventions, so it is difficult to analyze each&#xD;
method individually.

      <title>Os benefícios da aplicação da terapia manual na desativação dos pontos-gatilho</title>
      <link>http://repositorio.unirn.edu.br/jspui/handle/123456789/1274</link>
      <description>Título: Os benefícios da aplicação da terapia manual na desativação dos pontos-gatilho
Resumo: INTRODUCTION: The deactivation of trigger points is the main treatment in&#xD;
Myofascial Pain Syndrome (SDM), also called chronic myofascial pain, a painful&#xD;
condition that affects the skeletal muscles, their associated fascias, tendons and&#xD;
ligaments. The application of manual therapy is widely used in the deactivation of&#xD;
trigger points, among them the techniques of deep massage (ischemic compression) and release by gentle pressure, which can be applied alone or associated&#xD;
with other techniques such as: stretching or the technique of Positional release.&#xD;
METHODOLOGY: This search is a study carried out through a bibliographical&#xD;
survey of Lilacs, Medline, Scielo, PubMed, Bireme, Google Books and Google&#xD;
Academic databases, as well as periodicals and scientific journals from the libraries of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte-UFRN and University Center&#xD;
of Rio Grande do Norte-UNIRN. RESULTS: The results showed that the benefits&#xD;
of practicing manual therapy in non-invasive deactivation of trigger points are accurate and effective, since they can directly touch the nodule, causing a decrease&#xD;
in pain threshold, improvement in blood flow, relaxation Muscle tension and restoration of local functional normality. CONCLUSION: This literature review also&#xD;
showed that the treatment through the application of manual techniques is in increasing progress, since there are several studies proving the effectiveness of&#xD;
new techniques or the improvement of old techniques and their low cost.
