Terapia manual na disfunção cervical – estudo de caso

Abstract

Introduction: The spine disease is the most common among the adult population, with cervical spine dysfunction a common situation, and may be related to the individuals' work activity. Objective: To verify if the use of manual techniques has satisfactory results in the treatment of cervical dysfunction. Methods: The present study is a descriptive, case-study, two-phase study, pre-intervention and post-intervention, with a 37-year-old female patient with cervical pain, notary. It was evaluated before the intervention of the treatment, presented localized pain in the cervical region and the movement in flexion, and rotation to the left and inclination to the left. The intervention includes techniques of manual therapy and stretching seeking pain relief in order to verify if its application in patients with cervical dysfunction obtains satisfactory results. Results: After three treatment sessions, the patient presented an evident improvement in pain, posture and movement restriction. Conclusion: With the significant results, the importance of physical therapy through manual therapy for cervical dysfunction treatments is concluded.
