Cuidados de enfermagem em pacientes acometidos por úlcera terminal de Kennedy

Abstract

INTRODUCTION: Kennedy's terminal ulcer (KTU) is an injury that appears when the human body presents organ failure indicating imminent death of the patient, and has distinct characteristics. OBJECTIVE: To identify specific palliative care and management practices for Kennedy's terminal ulcer. METHOD: Integrative literature review using the PUBMED, LILACS and BDenf databases. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: Eight references were used. The articles dealt with palliative care, pressure injury, patient management and medications aimed at these patients. CONCLUSION: We can conclude that for the care of these patients, after assessment of the injury and correct identification, alignment with the multidisciplinary team must occur to define nursing diagnoses, prescription, care plans and instruction of the team and family members to obtain the expected results so that the patient can achieve a dignified death, without suffering and that the family is supported in this process.
