Terapia manual no tratamento da cervicalgia: uma revisão bibliográfica

Abstract

Physical therapy has been increasing and is undergoing a major technological revolution and assistance regarding the field of orthopedics. This is a part of health science that studies, prevents and treats functional kinetic disorders. Manual therapy is an area of physical therapy that has gained ground due to its success, mainly because it is on the reduction and treatment of chronic pain, such as neck pain. Thus, the general objective of this study was to describe through literature review, whether the manual therapies help in the treatment of neck pain. To achieve the proposed objective, we used a descriptive content methodology, exploratory and qualitative nature, developed in the assumptions of the literature review that was set up review through books, the Health Ministry and internet site - specifically in the database Virtual Health library (VHL), without time limit, to approach the subject involved. the Health Sciences descriptors were used: "Neck", "Manual Therapy" and "Cervical Therapy", the descriptors were placed isolated and associated, which revealed a scarcity regarding manual therapy in the treatment of neck pain from the viewpoint of professional physiotherapist. Thus, the study analysis was given by the BOOK REPORT and summaries of the literature review which soon after was made an interpretation and analysis. The results show that the technique may be effective in treating, however, it needs to establish more rigorous methodology. It is concluded that the Manual Therapy in Neck pain can be effective in immediate reduction of pain caused by trigger points, however, there is still need for a more specific protocol and its introduction into routine physical therapist.
